On Saturday 24 October and also Saturday 7 November this year 77th Bradgate Scouts have once again given up their time to remember those that have lost their lives, or have been wounded during the 2 world wars and recent conflicts, by helping the Anstey British Legion with the Poppy Appeal by selling poppies at the Beaumont Leys Shopping Centre.

Over the two Saturdays each Scout did a 2 hour slot  in conjunction with members from the Legion to sell poppies, badges etc to raise much need funds This year the sum raised by the Scouts was a grand total of £651.11, which was far and above any of their expectations.

Mr Graham Baum of The Anstey Branch of the Legion personally came along to the Scouts meeting last Monday to present them with a certificate of thanks for their efforts.

Paul Smith, our District Commissioner also congratulated the Bradgate Scouts on achieving such a large sum over the short period of time. He commented ‘The time given up by the scouts shows that the young people within the district do put something back into our community to raise such a brilliant amount for those that gave up their lives so we can do what we do’
