They say you should never work with children or animals, so what do we do? We take 130 Cubs and Leaders to Paradise Wildlife Park!
After a long trip down the motorway with two full coaches of Cubs, we arrived at the park, it was wet but everyone was excited to begin their jungle adventure. We started by having a VIP exclusive tour visiting some of the animals before they went to bed, seeing the penguins, reptiles, camels and we even heard the lion roar to signal the end of the day. After the tour we went in to the theatre and met some more animals where the young people got to learn about where the animals come from, their diets, life span and other fascinating facts such as the bearded dragons beard goes black when they are angry and orange when they are trying to attract a mate.
After the show we headed back to the marquee we were sleeping in for the night. Once all the beds were set up it was movie time! The obvious choice of film was The Jungle Book.
After a hearty breakfast it was time to spend the day exploring the park and meeting all the rest of the animals! However the morning was really wet meaning some of the animals stayed inside their shelters, but this didn’t stop the Cubs! They were out and about enjoying the many activities around the park, even standing in the rain to see the penguin feeding. In the afternoon the sun came out! With this it brought out all the animals, the lions were out on the rocks sun bathing, otters wondering what all the green things are staring at them.
This was the first event organised by our new ADC Cubs Neil and all the Cubs and Leaders had an amazing jungle adventure! Thank you Neil for your hard work, we can’t wait to find out what adventure you have planned next…
