Panda’s Explorers have celebrated a big birthday this week, they became 10 years old!

Started by our DESC Phil in September 2012 with a handful of Explorers over the years the unit has grown and seen over 100 young people pass through the section with several staying in Scouting after their time at the unit and becoming Leaders around the District, some even staying with the unit and becoming a Leaders there.

During the evening photos from the past 10 years were shown and of course you can’t have a birthday celebration without cake! So each explorer brought with them a home made cake for the panda bake off.

Once cakes were eaten it was time for games and they successfully made a self supporting ring which was strong enough for another explorer to run over the top! Then they tried the table climb challenge, where they had to climb round a table without touching the floor.

Finally to end the night it was a see you later to Phil who is stepping down as the unit leader (But not good bye as he will pop in to say hello) and congratulations to Mandy who was awarded her Medal of Merit.

Here’s to the next 10 years of Panda’s!
