Rothley’s two Beaver Colonies came together for a very exciting night… Visiting the Fire Station!

The Beavers visited Southern Station located near Meridian which is also the base for some of the Technical Rescue team. When they arrived, the Beavers were treated to a live tower rescue demonstration of a window cleaner getting stuck against a building which was very exciting to watch.

Next they got to hold the jaws of life, the huge hydraulic plyers used to open car doors, and then they got to see another live demonstration of fire fighters forcing open the doors of a van with the jaws of life, which itself was jaw dropping!

The excitement didn’t stop there as they went to different bases to learn about what Technical Rescue do, what fire fighters do and the equipment they wear and of course no fire station visit is complete without squirting the hose.
