Squirrel Drays and Beaver Colonies from Charnwood came together for a winter sports day at Martins High School.

The morning started with the Squirrels taking part in running races, a jumping race followed by racing with a bean bag on the head.

At which point we just had to get the Leaders involved too and they had a go at the bean bag on the head race and then demonstrated what to do for the egg and spoon race.

After the egg and spoon race it was time to speed crawl through the tunnels before flipping the hoops over their bodies. Next up was a new race which involved picking up a coloured disc and that disc had a score on the back which equalled the number of points you would get for that race.

The next race was dribbling a football followed by an exciting race of scooting across the floor on a sack – which left the floors very shiny! Then the final race of the morning, the ring on the head.

After the final race the points were calculated and the winner announced. Congratulations to the winning Squirrel Dray Mountsorrel!

Then came the afternoon where over 100 beavers joined us for their afternoon of racing. With a running race, a jumping race and the bean bag on the head race.

They then took part in the speed crawl through the tunnels before it was time for the Beaver Leaders to have a go at a race. They raced on the flipping hoops over the body race before the Beavers had a go.

The next race was a round of picking up the coloured discs with the points on, which was so fun the Leaders had to have a go too! It was then back to the Beavers to dribble the football and then the final race of the ring on the head.

Same as the Squirrels it was time to add up the points and find our winning Colony which was Queniborough!

Congratulations to our two winners and to all the Squirrels and Beavers for taking part.
