Throughout a young persons life in Scouting they are faced with many challenges and work hard towards many different awards. One of the awards that the Explorers work towards are the Duke of Edinburgh awards, with the Gold award being the highest section of that award.

Young people taking up the challenge of the award have to complete 12 months of volunteering, 6 to 12 months of physical activity and learning a skill, a 5 day residential and a 4 day expedition. During this challenge they learn new skills which they can take into every day life, they have experiences they never forget and make bonds of friendship which last a life time.

Completing the award is worthy of any celebration and on the 17th five of our Explorers Eleanor, Chloe, Will, Shona and Ben were invited to Buckingham Palace to receive their award and celebrate their achievements. They had their awards presented in the place gardens by none other than Warwick Davies.

Congratulations to our Explorers from the whole of the District!
